During these difficult times of social distancing, our mental health can be affected tremendously. Something as simple as positively altering your environment can stimulate your mind by promoting a happier and healthier lifestyle. Your bathroom is the perfect private location to get away for some much needed “me time.” It’s also the easiest and most affordable room to redecorate on a budget. Here’s how I turned my bathroom into an “Exclusive Private Spa”:
Got Green? Turn your shower into a lively oasis by adding plants. Plants offer many benefits for your mental health such as stress reduction, improved self-esteem, and a greater quality of life
Salty Much... After those long marathon Zoom meetings, that could have been a email, soothe those body aches with epsom salt. Including epsom salt to your bath has been known to soothe any achy muscles. I prefer Dr. Teal’s Eucalyptus & Spearmint Epsom Salt
I Mint that...Adding peppermint soap is also a great addition to your private spa. While smelling peppermint won’t make you smarter, the menthol stimulates the hippocampus region of the brain. I recommend using the Dr. Bronners pure castile soap.
Ice Ice, Baby...Creating an ambiance with a nice vanilla candle for that “ahhhh” moment. Medical experiments have shown that the vanilla fragrance reduces stress and anxiety.
Drop the Beat...Listen to your favorite tunes. Music can reduce stress and can help regulate the calming agent for anxiety.
Shea butter baby...Moisturize your skin with your favorite body oils. I like to add a few drops of lavender essential oil to keep me relaxed and stress-free.
#SipsTea After my spa-like bath or shower, I love drinking a warm cup of tea. I typically drink green tea during the day or “bed-time” tea at night.
